NEOSHO, MO.--- Crowder College hosts its first Healthcare Job Fair. Within the last 60 days, more than 2,000 jobs have been listed in the southwest region for the labor market. Career service leaders say most of the posting are at hospitals, including Mercy Hospital and Freeman Health System. Career fair leaders say the medical fields are a major hot spot right now and this is one way to provide the best resources for all their students.
"In the past, we've done the generally job fairs and it seems to be a hodgepodge and the types of students that we get in as well as the type of employers that are here. So, we're trying to make it more beneficial to our students as well as the employers to connect them," said Casey Owens, Crowder College Career Services.
75% of the job postings are permanent full time positions. Joplin has more than a thousand openings. Carthage, Monett, and Neosho have more than 100, and Webb City has about 88 job openings.
