JOPLIN, MO.--- Violent crime is down in Joplin, while property crime increased last month. The biggest increase is in reports of vandalism - up about 20 percent from 2012. More than half of those cases are associated with BB gun vandalism of vehicles, homes and businesses. The suspects have been arrested. Meanwhile violent crime reports have seen a double digit drop.
Overall, Joplin crime totals are virtually flat. Nearly 2,800 reports have been filed so far this year - a difference of 19 cases from 2012.
