Community Holds Softball Game for Lung Transplant Patient

Dozens took to the diamond to help Cindy Cundiff Martin of Miami inch closer to getting on a lung transplant list.

MIAMI, OK ---  Dozens took to the diamond to help Cindy Cundiff Martin of Miami inch closer to getting on a lung transplant list.

She needs to raise $30,000 before that can happen. So, her family hosted the softball tournament this morning to raise funds. Four teams signed up, paying an entrance fee of $125 each. The family also sold food, all of which was donated by local businesses. People also made monetary donations and some even donated items to be auctioned off.

"It impresses you all the community support athat you get our of people, all your friends come out and support your cause so it really really makes you feel special," says Nick Turley, Cindy's son.

Cindy's doctor would like to get her on the transplant list by this spring, so raising the money quickly is crucial. All money raised will go to the National Foundation for Transplants which will then be disbursed into Cindy's account.
