Columbus Public Library Burglaries

The library was broken into twice during the Thanksgiving holiday.
COLUMBUS, KS.--- The Columbus library loses some of its resources after being burglarized. The library was broken into twice during the Thanksgiving holiday. The first instance happened sometime between Wednesday night and Saturday morning.

The thief broke in through a basement window and stole all the library's money, along with a lap top. The second burglary occurred between Saturday evening and Monday morning. The culprit took the remaining laptops. Library representatives say this not only hurts them, but the community as a whole.

"It's a community building and it's a community service that we provide here. So, it's not just me who feels bad about this, it's other people in the community," said Danielle Dougherty, Library Director.

Crossland Construction is donating several refurbished laptops to help make up for the loss. Anyone with information on the crime should call the Columbus Police Department at 620-429-1332.
