JOPLIN, MO.--- Joplin's top lawman is being recognized as the best in the state. The Missouri Police Chief's Association chose Lane Roberts as the "Outstanding Police Chief of the Year." The award is based on law enforcement experience, organizational affiliation, innovation in programming, and dedication to service. Roberts say the honor reflects on the entire police department.
"The fact is, I kind of feel like I'm getting credit for other people's work. My hope is that everybody at the Chief's Association will understand that I'm accepting this on behalf of the department," said Lane Roberts, Joplin Police Chief.
Roberts will receive the award the Missouri Police Chiefs Association banquet on Thursday in Jefferson City.
