Cherokee Co. Accident Leaves One Dead

It happened just before 8 Saturday morning on U.S. 166 Highway just west of Baxter Springs.
BAXTER SPRINGS, KS-- One person is dead after a two-vehicle accident in Cherokee County.

It happened just before 8 Saturday morning on U.S. 166 Highway just west of Baxter Springs.

Police say a Toyota Sedan was traveling westbound when the vehicle lost control and struck a Hyundai Elantra traveling eastbound.

The driver of the Toyota identified as 35-year-old Justin Oldham of Carthage was taken to the hospital where he later passed away from injuries sustained in the crash.

His passenger along with the driver and passenger of the Elantra were taken to Freeman Hospital in Joplin for injuries.
