Charges Filed in Ottawa County Against Robbery and Murder Suspect Go Federal

The U.S. Attorney's Office has indicted Francis Dishmon on federal charges of robbery and murder for the death of James Wivell of Colorado.
MIAMI, OK.--- Charges filed in Ottawa County against a robbery and murder suspect go federal. District Attorney Eddie Wyant says his office has dismissed local charges against Francis Dishmon. Wyant tells us the U.S. Attorney's Office has indicted the 50 year old on federal charges of robbery and murder for the death of James Wivell, 48, of Colorado.

Authorities say Dishmon attempted to rob the IBC Bank in Miami on September 28th but left with no money. Dishmon then led officers on a high speed chase north on 69 Highway. That's when he crashed into Wivell's truck, forcing him off the road. The crash resulted in Wivell's death.

Following an hourlong manhunt, authorities located Dishmon hiding in a ditch and took him into custody. Wyant says Dishmon will be transported to Tulsa early next week.
