JOPLIN, MO.--- Several patients in the hospital will be thankful for your blood donation this holiday season. The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks is hosting a "Thanks for Giving" blood drive this week. People are encouraged to come in and donate to help save lives. The holiday season is very busy with area hospitals noticing an increase with traffic accidents from people traveling on the highway to visit family. Also, for every donation, you can collect points that will give you gift cards to Amazon and Starbucks.
"Especially emergency blood during the holiday season. Please keep us in mind. Also, this time of year a lot of regular donors come down with the flu or cold symptoms, we can't depend on them when they're ill," said Karen Ringler, CBCO.
If you would like to donate, you can visit the CBCO inside the main entrance at the Northpark Mall. The center is open on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Next week, they will be on regular hours and open Monday to Friday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
