JOPLIN, MO.--- A local charity is shifting its focus from disaster recovery to more general community needs. Catholic Charities will now offer a range of services, including mental health counseling, homeless prevention services, housing and financial counseling, and family strengthening programs. The organization will continue home repair efforts and the construction of two new homes already underway. Catholic Charities first opened in Joplin shortly after the 2011 tornado.
