This morning Sheriff Archie Dunn held a press conference releasing the names of the victims in this weekends homicide. Robert Sheldon, 70, and his wife Ellen Sheldon, 71, were found Sunday morning in their home just west of Carthage off County Road 162 and Mound Street. Investigators say the couple was last seen around 8:30 on Saturday night. One of the couple's sons was concerned when they didn't show for church services Sunday morning. When he went to check on them around 11:00 Sunday morning, he discovered the bodies of his parents. Robert Sheldon was a long time Reserve Deputy with the Jasper County Sheriff's Department. The department knew the Sheldon's well, and say that Robert was always very easy going. Investigators say that at this time they have no suspects and no motive for the crime. They say the Tri-State Crime Squad has been activated and is trying to narrow down the time frame in which the crime occurred. Sheriff Dunn says he is confident they will be able to solve the crime, but as for now, the investigation continues.
