CARL JUNCTION, MO.--- After 15 years, a local postmaster's dream finally comes true. The Carl Junction Post Office placed first in the annual "Stamp Out Breast Cancer Challenge." This means workers sold more Breast Cancer Awareness Stamps than any other city in the country. Placing first has been Postmaster Sharon Clark's goal since 1998. This year, Carl Junction raised more than $47,000 in stamp sales, surpassing their initial goal of raising $25,000. As well as last years toatl, which was $24,000.
"People are finally getting the message about awareness and early detection, and how important all that is. It's just a wonderful feeling," said Sharon Clark, Carl Junction Postmaster.
All funds raiased in the Stamp Out Breast Cancer Challenge will go toward funding cancer research.
