JOPLIN, MO.--- Local Historian Allen Shirley displays collectibles remembering the assassination of John F. Kennedy inside the Carl Junction Community Center. Items include a 50 year old Joplin Globe reporting the event and an autograph from Secret Service Agent Clint Hill, who hopped on the back of the president's car during the assassination. Shirley also has an autograph from Jim Leavelle who was handcuffed to Lee Harvey Oswald, when Jack Ruby shot him.
"It's one of the defining moments in history somebody can remember, if you're old enough to remember where you were at, what you were doing. Much like Pearl Harbor, 9/11, J.F.K. is in that vein," said Allen Shirley, Historian.
The exhibit will be on display at the Carl Junction Community Center until the end of the month.
