Car Stop Leads to Drug Bust and Four Arrest

During a vehicle search, an officer found 43 grams of suspected meth and other drug paraphernalia.

JOPLIN, MO--- Just after 1am an officer with the Joplin Police Department made a car stop in the parking lot of the Legacy Inn located at 2830 E 36th St. The officer recognized the driver of the vehicle, Jeremy Mclean, as having a revoked license in the State of Missouri. The officer contacted Mclean and two other passengers in the vehicle. There was another subject that was by the vehicle that ran into a hotel room. Officers later determined that this subject, Travis Doty, was in the vehicle and contacted him in the hotel room where he was later arrested.

During a search of the vehicle, the officer located 43 grams of suspected meth as well as suspected drug paraphernalia. The meth had a street value of $3,700. The officer also seized nearly $1,000 in cash which was found on Jeremy Mclean.

Jeremy Mclean,31, of Joplin, was arrested for Driving While Revoked, Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Stephanie Crase,22, of Joplin, a passenger of the vehicle, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Crase also had an active warrant out of Newton County for Failure to Appear on a felony possession of marijuana.

Misty Leeper, 24, of Joplin, a passenger of the vehicle, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Travis Doty,30, of Joplin, who was determined to be a passenger of the vehicle, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Formal charges are expected to be filed by the Newton County Prosecutor.
