JOPLIN, MO.--- Many local cable subscribers have lost access to several channels following a dispute between Cable One and the Turner Broadcasting System. While the cable provider had signed deals to continue carrying TBS, TNT and the Cartoon Network, Cable One chose to let agreements lapse for less popular networks including CNN and TCM.
When Turner Broadcasting pulled the plug on signals on October 1st, the interruption covered all their channels, including those still under contract. Cable One officials call it "an extraordinary act of retaliation and bullying." Meanwhile, Turner Broadcasting says only that they are asking that Cable One pay "established and accepted rates already in the marketplace."
