JOPLIN, MO.--- The Joplin man arrested for the attempted arson at Planned Parenthood has confessed to setting the fire at Islamic Society of Joplin. Jedediah Stout, 29, was arrested and charged Friday with attempted arson. Today, he made a first appearance in the Planned Parenthood case. U.S. District Court officials filed a motion for detention in the case. The document states Stout confessed to attempting to set fire to Planned Parenthood on October 3rd and 4th.
It also says Stout confessed to the fire at the Islamic Society of Joplin. Court documents say Stout set fire to the building on July 4th of last year and again on August 6th of 2012. The building was completely destroyed in the August 6th fire. Stout will be back in court tomorrow morning for a detention hearing. At this time, he is only charged in the Planned Parenthood fire. The U.S. Attorney's Office spokesperson tells us additional charges could be filed in a later indictment.
