Brad's Beat: Pittsburg State University Football Turf Preparations

Many eyes will be on the football players during Saturday's home game at PSU, but it takes a lot of effort to get the field ready for the big game.
PITTSBURG, KS.--- Many eyes will be on the football players during Saturday's home game at Pittsburg State University, but it takes a lot of effort to get the field ready for the big game. Andrew Lance is an equipment operator at PSU. He drives a machine called the "Green Groomer" over the field twice a week. It lifts the rubber fibers up from the ground and makes the colors more vivid and it also levels the field for the players. It's just one of the many behind the scenes jobs that makes the big game possible.

"We don't get seen doing this, but we feel like we put in our part to help our team win," said Andrew Lance, PSU Equipment Operator.

The field turf was installed last summer and has a life span of about 10 years.
