Brad's Beat Kindergarten Trash Pickup

Columbia Elementary School kindergartners celebrated Earth Day by picking up trash from their playground.
JOPLIN, MO.--- Dozens of kindergartners celebrated Earth Day by getting their hands dirty. Students at Columbia Elementary School in Joplin picked up trash from their playground.

They found gum wrappers, popsicle sticks and even cigarette butts. The teachers say it teaches them how to take care of the Earth and give back. The students say it's important to keep Mother Earth a nice place to live.

"So our world could get real clean and we could go everywhere and have fun," said Kaylee Persinger, 6.

Earth Day is celebrating its 43rd anniversary. It first started in 1970.
