CARL JUNCTION, MO.--- Kids laced up their running shoes for a fun run. The Joplin Family YMCA hosted a Kids Run The Nation event. It was held at the Carl Junction Park. Since May, the kids have met once a week to learn about running and how to get in shape. Today they did a lap around the park and not only was the winner recognized, but the child who came in last received some of the biggest cheers. Organizers say the kids learn a lot over the summer.
"Running is a lifestyle sport and it can he fun. I think they learn to believe in themselves that they can do it," said Karen King, Camp Running Coach.
The nation wide camp began back in 1986 and there are now dozens of them across the country.
