Brad's Beat: Kids Cooking With Snow

Some area kids are turning the snow in their backyard into a dessert.
JOPLIN, MO.--- Some area kids are turning the snow in their backyard into a dessert. Elizabeth and Emily Tarter are cooking with snow. So far, they have made snow ice cream and a few other cold snacks. They simply get the snow from their backyard, put it in a bowl, add milk, sugar and vanilla and turn it into a tasty treat. The girls say it's natural to eat things from your backyard, just in the winter they don't have a garden but a snow storm.

"I don't find it weird. You eat vegetables and fruit that come out of the ground. It's not really any different," said Emily Tarter, 11 Years Old.

"There's lots of things to do on a snow day. Just go out there, get the snow. Just bring it back in and have some hot chocolate with it," said Elizabeth Tarter, 12 Years Old.

They also have been making snow cones on their day off with the snow.
