Brad's Beat: Cripple Creek Pumpkins

Two Oronogo women are trying to keep up with the demand of their growing business.
ORONOGO, MO.---- Two Oronogo women are trying to keep up with the demand of their growing business. Brandy Helms and Leanna Thornton own Cripple Creek Pumpkins. They started painting pumpkins as a side job three years ago. Now, they will sell more than a thousand for the month of October.

Brandy spray paints the whole pumpkin with a color and Leanna does the detail and design work. Some of the most popular pumpkins include Spiderman, Hello Kitty and the Kansas City Chiefs logo. They say painting on a pumpkin can be a challenge, since none are the same size.

"It's oddly shaped, they're not normal, they're odd. You just have to work around that," says Leanna Thornton, Pumpkin Painter.

If you would like to purchase one of their pumpkins, you can call 417-317-2857. The pumpkins average between $8 to $12. To view the Cripple Creek Pumpkin Facebook Page, click here.
