CARTHAGE, MO.--- A historic barn from the 1800's is getting a makeover. Bruce and Christine Westwood have been working since May to restore a historic barn in Carthage. It was built in the 1890's and sat dormant for years. They are now turning it into a wedding reception and event area. They are keeping as much of the original wood as possible, but they learned fairly quickly that barns like this were made to last.
"This was the hardest thing we've ever done. It took sledge hammers, and we had to cut the nails instead of taking them out they were embedded so hard," said Bruce Westwood, Civil War Ranch.
There will be an open house this weekend.
