CARTHAGE, MO.--- A new book is focusing on the history of Carthage over the last 50 years. Michele Hansford and Wade Utter have written the book titled "Carthage 1940-1990." The book is made up of dozens of old photographs that are stored in the Powers Museum. One of the biggest changes in the last 50 years is that many businesses have moved away from the square to the south side of the town. The authors said the publisher asked for the book because of the demand in interest in Route 66 history and Carthage plays a large part.
"Nothing like the interest right now. It has mushroomed year after year. So there's a whole chapter on it," said Michele Hansford, Author.
If you would like to purchase the book, it is for sale at the Powers Museum in Carthage.
