LAMAR, MO.--- Barton County Memorial Hospital is challenging the community during its annual food drive. This is the second year that hospital employees have competed with people from around the area. The goal is to bring in as much food as possible. All the food collected will go to the local nonprofit organization the Good Samaritan. The CEO of the hospital says the need in the area is high and this is a way the hospital can get everyone involved.
"Last year we raised, everybody raised about 750 pounds. This year, we are on goal to raise double that amount," said Wendy Duvall, CEO/CFO of Barton County Memorial Hospital.
She adds liberal schools is ahead in the competition, but there's still time for a turn around. All the food must be brought in by tomorrow.
