JOPLIN, MO.--- Many of us were shoveling snow early this morning, but it's important to be aware of your health while doing it. Doctors recommend to not shovel snow unless you're physically fit. Shoveling snow can strain your heart and back. It's also important to stretch and loosen up your muscles before the big job. Also, pace yourself with the job and don't push it too far. Face the direction you are throwing the snow, don't twist at the waist or throw snow over your shoulder. Lastly, take frequent breaks and drink some warm fluids.
