CARTHAGE, MO.--- An interim circuit clerk is named in Jasper County. Melissa Holcomb is stepping up as interim circuit court clerk. She is filling the spot of Linda Williams who resigned last week. Holcomb ran for the position three years ago and was named as interim clerk on Monday. She is already taking on her new duties.
"I was ready for the position back then, and I'm ready for the position now. Ready to get to work. So very excited, very honored to work with the local judges, our local bar, and the clerks and serving the public," said Melissa Holcomb, Jasper County Interim Circuit Clerk.
Holcomb will hold the interim title until the governor names an acting circuit clerk. That person will stay in the position until the next election in 2014. Holcomb says she has already been planning a campaign for that spot.
