JOPLIN, MO.--- Students at a Joplin elementary school get an early Christmas present. Academy Sports and Outdoors donated 30 bikes and helmets to Eastmoreland Elementary students. 15 boys and girls were rewarded based on good behavior and attendance. Teachers at the school drew names at random. Academy has partnered with a different Joplin school for the past 12 years. Organizers say the reaction they get from the kids is always rewarding.
"Every year it's a different format how we choose, but the smiles are all the same. It's always a great thing to see smiles from a couple kids who need presents through the holidays, so it's always great," said Justin Sanderson, Senior Team Leader.
The bike donation program benefits 3,300 kids across the country.
