Jay McDowell started every game at quarterback last season for the Lions. But coming into the 2014-15 season, McDowell would have to battle for the starting role. Head Coach Daryl Daye added to his core of quarterbacks with sophomore transfer and OVC Freshman of the Year Scott Lathrop. Today, Daye cleared the air and named his starter.

"Right now, it's Jay and Scott, one and two." Daye was quick to mention though, things could change between now and September 4th's opener at Emporia State. McDowell, who played most of last season with a injury kept under wraps, will have to stay healthy and on point. Daye has plans on not just a third consecutive winning season, but also a run into the playoffs.
