JOPLIN, Mo. - There's a new toy on the market and kids are going crazy for it. It's called the fidget spinner and for kids....
"It makes everything a lot easier," said Jaxon McIntosh, student.
The spinner has a center piece that you hold then you flick one of the paddle shaped blades and it sends the device spinning.
It's a classroom must have for student, Jaxon McIntosh, with out it....
"I just couldn't do it," said McIntosh.
He says, it's something that helps them focus.
"The weight of it and it doesn't really make any noise, that's what I like about it. You can put it at your seat right there and it doesn't distract any other people," McIntosh explained.
McIntosh had a brain bleed a few years ago, so he can't take ADD medication. For him, it's something to exert the extra energy on and teachers like it for that reason, but say sometimes it's just distracting.
"The one that spins it on his nose, that's not what they're used for. So, Mrs. Haney has to take them and I lock them in my drawer and give them back at the end of the day," said Amanda Haney, teacher.
Jaxon's mom, Candice Wammack, says she's seen an overall improvement.
"He's had one for probably a month an half or two months, he's not been in any trouble. I've not had any teachers call me and tell me Jaxon's been up messing with other kids," said Candice Wammack, parent.
For her, it's something she'll keep buying as long as it keeps him focused. She even recommends other parents give it a whirl.
"Give them one of these and try it out and see if it, it entertains them enough," said Wammack.
