BAXTER SPRINGS, KS. --- Baxter Springs authorities issue a curfew to cut down on looting. Starting Wednesday night, residents are asked to stay inside from 9pm to 6am. Officers believe the curfew will help law enforcement catch thieves in the act.

Also, Baxter Springs is currently under a burn ban according to the fire chief. Authorities are discouraging any outside burning, except for barbeque grills.

The Cherokee County Health Department is providing tetanus shots all week for residents, volunteers, and responders.

Anybody in Baxter Springs in need of volunteer assistance should contact the incident command post at 620-856-3536. Tarps are available starting Wednesday at the Nazarene Church. It's located at 8th and Park in Baxter Springs.
