CARTHAGE, MO.--- Two Missouri school districts receive a grant that will help support learning programs. The Missouri State Library awarded the Carthage R-9 School District a grant of $2,000 today. The grant provides funds to public libraries, which then use the money to buy educational materials specifically to support science, technology, engineering and math programs. Secretary of State Jason Kander says the money will help make educational materials more accessible to students.

McDonald County R-1 School District was also awarded a $2,000 grant for the same purposes. The grant is funded by the "Library Services and Technology Act" through the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services. The Missouri State Library has approved a total of 53 grant applications, distributing more than $475,000 in federal awards throughout the Show-Me-State.
