JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - A Southwest Missouri lawmaker speaks out about the message he intended to send with a controversial video.
Missouri State Representative Mike Moon of Lawrence County posted a video on social media last week of him butchering a chicken.
Moon says the video was made in response to Governor Eric Greitens, quote, "calling us back from summer vacation."
Moon says the intent of the video was to illustrate that when the legislators aren't in Jefferson City, many of them are home trying to provide for their families.
"I wanted to send the Governor a message, because he has consistently referred to us as third graders, acting like third graders, the legislature is, and we're career politicians, and he's going to bring us back from our summer vacations to do our work," says State Representative Mike Moon.
Moon says he will join the Missouri House of Representatives in Jefferson City this week to debate the Abortion Legislation that Greitens called for in ordering the second special session.
The Missouri Senate passed the legislation last week.
