CARTHAGE, Mo. - A team from the Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief Organization is in Carthage. The Jefferson City based volunteer agency has been working to get homes in Kendricktown ready to be lived in again. Representatives say workers remove furniture, carpeting and other debris inside the homes, as well as sheetrock from the walls. They say the remainder of the house is power washed and sanitized to prevent mold from growing.
"We're here because we love our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and that he gave everything he had for us. So, we're here to give to these people what we can give to them," said Leighton Clemons, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief.
Clemons' group is one of several that are working in flooded areas across the state.
