Sam's Club raises $140,000 for Children's Miracle Network

An area retailer can now call themselves the best in the country.

The Joplin Sam's Club store raised more money for the Children's Miracle Network over a six week period than any other store of its kind in the country. More than $140 thousand dollars was raised between the Sam's Club of Joplin and other Joplin area Walmart stores.

Robert Thomas, Joplin Sam's Club Manager: "We did everything from cookouts to carnival's, rummage sales, raising money through the registers and our banner program which was a main a source of it from our business members, based on the size of the business. They picked the child that was local, my wife did the photo shoots so it made it personal."

The money raised locally will help provide a video hook up called angel eye that allows parents in staying at Freeman Health System to see their newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
