JOPLIN, MO.--- Sales tax revenue is up for the City of Joplin. The January check jumped by more than 9% from the same time last year. That's an extra $230,000 for the city. The increase follows a series of up and down swings that ended with a 3% decrease for fiscal year 2013. The City of Joplin collects a 2.6% sales tax for parks and storm water, public safety, transportation, capital improvements, and general budgeting.
