ORONOGO, MO.--- A roller will smooth out the trail, making it even for bikes and strollers. The Joplin Trails Coalition is doing the work for a price tag of $2,000. Members say these trails are important for families and area residents.

"Trails are important because they help people get out and enjoy the outdoors and reduces obesity. You've got something you can do in your backyard. You don't have to drive to Joplin. Here we are in Oronogo on a real nice trail, it goes through Carl Junction and Carthage," said Braden Horst, Joplin Trails.

Crews hope to continue to upgrade the 16 mile trail, but that will depend on donations along with grant money.
