Republican Women of Newton County Watermelon Feed

People gather at the Lampo Building in Neosho to meet Republican candidates.

NEOSHO, Mo. - The Republican Women of Newton County and the Newton County Republican Central Committee co-hosted the annual Watermelon Feed. With it being an election year, statewide and countywide Republican candidates were invited to mingle with Missourians over watermelon and ice cream. Having the event shortly before the actual primary gives people a chance to make a final decision on who they will vote for.
"People can come and make up their mind. Visit with the candidates one-on-one. Let the candidates get to know them, know what's important to them, and have the voters get a feel for who it is they're going to vote for," said Nick Myers, chairman.
Along with the candidates, U.S. Senator Roy Blunt, Congressman Billy Long, and State Senator Ron Richard spoke at the Watermelon Feed.
