PITTSBURG, KS --- More than 800 PSU students got their hands a little dirty today for the school's community service project.

The university held its 11th annual "Big Event" today.  Students went to 130 different homes and buildings throughout the city where they raked leaves, mulched, and painted.

Big Event Director Jake Letner says the event is a good way for the university to give back to the community.

"Pittsburg is unique because Pittsburg gives so much to the university," Letner said.  "And this is the biggest way I think PSU students can show their appreciation for all that the city and all that the residents of Pittsburg do for us."

Letner says the Big Event is every year in April and is the biggest community project in Southeast Kansas.
