Proposed 2018 budget could mean pay raises for Carl Junction city workers

CARL JUNCTION, Mo. - The proposed Carl Junction 2018 Budget includes a 2% cost of living raise for city employees. If approved, it would apply to all 35 workers on the city payroll and would take effect after the $6.3 million budget takes effect.

The City Administrator says it's an ongoing goal to improve compensation on a regular basis.

"We've been fairly consistent over the years to do one," explained CJ City Admin. Steve Lawver. "If not every year, every other year. There's been a couple of times we've done an increase on benefits instead of pay raise."

The Carl Junction City Council must officially vote to approve for the raise to take effect.  The 2018 budget begins on April 1st.
