Police make arrest in string of package thefts

JOPLIN, Mo. - Phillip L. Bishop of Joplin was arrested Saturday night following a string of reported thefts in Joplin and other surrounding communities. Victims were able to describe Bishop's Red 2003 Ford Escape and part of his license plate number.

On Saturday, an officer recognized Bishop's vehicle pulling up to a home on East Valley Street. Police searched the home and found more than 130 separate items that had been stolen. Bishop was booked on a traffic violation and misdemeanor stealing, but more charges are expected.

Detectives are currently working on linking those items with victims and ask that if you've been a victim of package theft, to report it to your local authorities.
