PITTSBURG, KS -- Dozens of kids put their building skills to the test at a Pittsburg State event. The 7th Annual Block Kids event was held at the PSU Kansas Technology Center this afternoon. Around 100 students in first through sixth grades were challenged to a one hour building contest. They used Legos to build a construction-industry-related project. Organizers say this is a good way to introduce kids to potential job possibilities at an early age.

"That's what we're hoping for is that it sparks their interest in construction and that maybe that will stay with them," said Dennis Audo, Assistant Professor in the School of Construction.

Prizes were awarded for first, second and third place in each class. The event was sponsored by The National Association of Women in Construction and the Pitt State School of Construction.
