Pittsburg State holds literary reception for faculty

Members of Pittsburg State's faculty were honored this afternoon for the work they did outside of the classroom.

A reception was held at Leonard H. Axe Library for faculty members to display the literary works they published this year. All the pieces are displayed on the third floor of the library for everyone to read and ask questions about.

The works range from scholarly journals to poems. One professor even published a series of children's books. This event is held every year and the number of pieces has grown since the first reception took place 34 years ago.

Randy Roberts, Dean of Library Services: "It is part of being a professional in your field that you want to advance the research, you want to advance the scholarship. You want to continue to study yourself. You know you're teaching that field because you love that field."

Nearly eighty Pitt State faculty members were published this year.
