PARSONS, KS--- After months of extremely dry weather, the Parsons Farmers Market has decided to shut down early this season. The market was originally supposed to be open until October, but the lack of rain and the availability of produce has changed those plans. Vendors of the Parsons Farmers Market say attendance has been dwindling over the last several weeks and this is the first time they've decided to close this early.
"It's really slowed down and the vegetables are just drying up. That's the reason for closing early. We usually stay maybe to the middle of October," according to one of the vendors, Dixie Aldridge.
Although today was the market's last day, organizers are already looking forward to better weather next year.
