Ottawa County Boys and Girls Club receives sweater donations

OTTAWA COUNTY, Okla. - The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa County partnered with Empire District Electric to hand out sweaters and beanies at Alexander Elementary School. Kids also had a snack and got a chance to meet Santa as well. Organizers say it was a good opportunity to celebrate the holiday season while giving the kids something special.

"If kids are cold, they can't concentrate and so this donation from Empire is going to insure that our kids are warm and they are safe through the holiday months,” said Mackenzie Garst, Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa County.

"We teamed up and we got those numbers of how many kids we needed and got our logos in and we got the job done pretty quickly. So we're so excited to be able to do it right before they leave on Christmas break. So they'll have those,” said Jordan Bolinger, Empire District Business/Community Development Manager.

Bolinger says Empire plans to have more partnership opportunities with the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa County in the future.
