Neosho City Council Appoints New Attorney to Advise Ethics Board
By Bryan McLoone | email@example.com
NEOSHO, MO.--- The Neosho City Council appoints a new attorney to advise the Neosho Ethics Board. The council decided on Attorney Bill McCaffree from Nevada. McCaffree will be the legal counsel to overlook the ongoing complaint against two Neosho council members. Last week, former Neosho Resident Derek Snyder filed a grievance complaint against Councilman Steve Hart and Councilman David Ruth.
The complaint centered around improper use of public property, divulging confidential information, and coercion of council members. City Attorney Steve Hays decided to remove himself from further conversations with the Ethics Board because of a conflict of interest. Mayor Richard Davidson says hiring Mr. McCaffree will let the investigation continue.
"Having an attorney on the board or advice on the board that has no interest in Neosho, no ties to Neosho, that can give a fair and honest response to questions that he is asked is important. We want to make sure we extend all the fairness and courtesy we can to the two people named in the complaint," said Mayor Richard Davidson, City of Neosho.
The Neosho city manager will now put together a contract with Mr. McCaffree, that the Neosho City Council will have to approve. Mayor Davidson says the ethics board will schedule a final hearing once the attorney is on the council board. We will continue to follow the story once more information becomes available.
