Neosho City Council Agrees to Create a Financial Plan for the Chamber of Commerce
By Carla Pesono
NEOSHO, MO.--- The Neosho City Council has agreed to come up with an expense plan for the chamber of commerce. This year the chamber is having financial difficulties so they asked the council to help them with their budget. Recently, the chamber has separated their economic development and chamber.
This has caused majority of the revenues to go with the economic development and the expenses have stayed with the chamber of commerce. Because of this split, the chamber is now at a negative budget of $3,700 for 2014. After some discussion, the council and the chamber both agree it is important to keep a good relationship together to benefit the city.
"We're all focused on making Neosho better. We are all working for a common cause, so it makes common sense to me that we would be working together to do what's best for Neosho as a partnership and not doing that individually," said Richard Davidson, Neosho Mayor.
"It's great to increase the standard of living for our citizens, but also make Neosho a great place for folks to move and come and live to raise a family," said Eric Norris, Neosho Chamber President.
After Norris' presentation tonight at city council, the council manager and the city attorney will meet together and consider a budget offer to the chamber in a couple weeks. Norris says the chamber will be thankful with whatever the council can do for them.
