NEH imposter scam reaches the Four States

A federal grantmaking agency is warning about a scam that has reached the Four States.

The National Endowment for the Humanities is the victim of a social media scam. Someone is claiming to be an employee with NEH, contacting people through Facebook messenger or text. The person then tells you that you are on a list for a grant, and that you need to send payment, so they can send you the grant funds.

However, NEH will never ask a person to send money in order to receive a grant or other forms of financial assistance. Also, the organization will never contact an individual concerning grant awards.

If you receive any of these messages, report the fraudulent account to Facebook, and report the incident to the NEH inspector general at 1-877-786-7598.
