Residents of Pittsburg came together to remember those who have passed away.
The Mount Carmel Foundation's annual tradition of dedicating its Remember Me Tree took place tonight at Meadowbrook Mall. Names of those who passed away were on ornaments on the tree and read allowed during the event. It's a fundraiser for the organization with the proceeds going to help those who are being treated at via Christi Hospital. So far this year they've gathered 15,000 dollars from the ornaments.
"It's just an opportunity for them to recognize their loved ones. It's time for them to take pause and for them to celebrate and have a moment and remember the loved ones they've lost. It's pretty special to each and everyone that puts an ornament up,” says Johnna Norton, Executive Director of Mount Carmel Foundation.
The tree will be on display in the mall until January. Anyone who wants to add an ornament to the tree can contact Mount Carmel at (620) 235-3512.
