MISSOURI--- The Missouri Senate has approved a proposal to extend the abortion waiting period by two extra days. HB 1307 and 1313 says a woman must wait 72 hours after seeing a doctor before obtaining an abortion. There is an exception for the waiting period if the doctors says the situation is an emergency. The current wait time for Missouri is 24 hours. Representatives at Life Choices says it's important the woman knows what she's doing.

"Having that extra time to get the information they need, do accurate research. Receiving the accurate research is very important, so they make an informed choice," said Mischa Long, Life Choices Nurse.

The proposal has been sent to the Missouri House of Representatives.
