MISSOURI--- Missouri Governor Jay Nixon is encouraging residents to celebrate trees in April. Governor Nixon says Missouri will celebrate Arbor Day on April 4th. People are asked to help plant trees and realize how much they help us everyday. The Missouri Department of Transportation will distribute nearly 100,000 tree seedlings to students across the state next month. Nixon also says trees can have a positive affect on our wallets. Shade from two large trees on the west side of your house can save 30% of your annual air conditioning costs. Trees cover one third of the state and provide jobs for nearly 30,000 people who use the wood for manufacturing products.
