BAXTER SPRINGS, KS.--- Shirley Morton is creating mats for the less fortunate. She's a member of the First Baptist Church in Baxter Springs. Every year they take a mission trip to Ft. Worth, Texas. She crochets the plastic bags to make a mat that the homeless can lay on.

"A lot of them sleep on the streets, and so they would use these mats to hopefully put a sleeping bag or a blanket on top of it to help keep them stay warm and to keep the moisture off of them," said Shirley Morton, Making Mats.

If you would like to drop off your grocery bags, you can take them to the First Baptist Church in Baxter Springs. It's located at 1005 East 10th Street. You can drop them off Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
